Face Fit Testing

Face Fit Testing is required for all tight-fitting facepieces including FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 disposable masks as well as reusable half and full-face masks. If your operatives wear tight-fitting facepieces in the workplace then you will need to provide evidence of a fit test for each different make, model and size of mask they use.

Face fit testing with Fit2Face is straightforward and hassle-free that takes between 15 – 30 minutes per person. There are two types of tests, Qualitative and Quantitative.

Quantitative

Quantitative fit testing (QNFT) provides a numerical measure of how well a facepiece seals against a wearer’s face; this is called a fit factor. These tests give an objective measure of face fit. QNFT methods are suitable for disposable and reusable half masks and full-face masks.

Qualitative

Qualitative fit testing (QLFT) is a subjective assessment where the wearer determines a pass/fail criteria by detecting the taste of bitter or sweet aerosol introduced as a test agent, assessing any leakage around the face seal. QLFT techniques are applicable for both disposable and reusable half masks but are not suitable for full-face masks. While QLFT relies on subjective detection by the RPE wearer, it's crucial that the test is conducted by a fit tester proficient in this method.
